The Economic Impact Payment card may have already shown up in your mail and you are ready to use it to pay bills or put into savings. But did you know that there are fees associated with some transactions? We have some tips on how to access your money more efficiently and avoid paying fees.
Once you activate your card, you can use it anywhere Visa Debit cards are accepted, no fees. You can also transfer money to your personal account without a fee. Transferring money to your checking or savings account at ERFCU does have its benefits as you may already have your bill payments setup from your checking account or you might want to put it in your savings account for emergencies. Limits on these transactions are $1,000 per transaction, $2,500 a day and $5,000 per month.
If you want cash, you can request cash back with PIN debit purchases at participating businesses. For ATM withdrawals, you will need to be sure you use their in-network ATM, there is a fee for out-of-network ATMs after the first transaction. ATM withdrawal limit is $1,000 per day. You can find a local in-network ATM here: https://www.eipcard.com/locator
If you want to withdraw cash in-person, your first transaction is without a fee but there may be a $5 fee deducted from your card for subsequent transactions along with a $2500 per transaction limit (please note a credit union or bank limit may be less). You will also want to know your balance beforehand which you can retrieve by phone call or online.
Make sure you keep your card in a safe place as there are fees to replace and ship your card. You also cannot add additional funds to your EIP card.
There are other additional fees and information you will want to review so you can make the most of your economic impact payment. That information can be found at https://www.eipcard.com/
